A Simple Mission
We are teachers, tutors, and training consultants with a simple mission: to help people of all ages achieve their learning goals. We work with adults, children, professionals, and students of all ages. We work with large groups, small groups, and individuals. We partner with corporations, nonprofits, schools, and families. If you want to learn something, we can help you get there.
Our tutors have a long history of experience with standardized tests including the GRE, SAT, and ACT, and one of our favorite things to do is work with students to help them succeed on these tests. Individual or group tutoring sessions are available. We provide students with test-taking strategies to address specific kinds of questions, but we also work to build their confidence and help them approach the test with a positive attitude. We think that knowing that you can succeed is almost as important as being able to succeed.
We also enjoy working with professionals and other adult learners. We love the fact that adult learners bring a lifetime of experience and subject matter expertise to a learning setting, an enormous resource that we as teachers or facilitators can draw upon. Often adult learners are highly motivated, they have specific goals for the learning process, and they have a greater awareness of their own thought and learning process—what we call "metacognition." At the same time, we know that working with adult learners can pose some unique challenges. For example, they may feel out of place in a classroom or learning setting, or they may feel that they are expected to produce the "right" answer rather than thinking creatively. We work hard to ensure that adult learners have a positive, productive learning experience, and that they learn what they came to us to learn.
Lernex consultants are great teachers, which to us means being great communicators. We know that just being smart doesn't make us good teachers. It's how we communicate what we know that's important. So our focus is on direct, effective, meaningful communication, conveying concepts to you in a way that is accessible, engaging, and relevant.
